She is here! Isabella was born at 3:38 am on Sunday, January 4th. She was 6.6 lbs and 19 1/2 inches long. We are enjoying every minute of having her in our lives!
At around 1:30 am on Saturday I started having contractions. They were about 10 minutes apart the entire night. Needless to say, I did not get much sleep. Poor Bret was doing the best he could to try to make me comfortable, but nevertheless, it was a long night. The next morning I had the baby shower with all of my family. We almost canceled it, but I am so glad we didn't because it kept me distracted. We were planning to go to the BYU v. Wake Forest basketball game that night, but instead we decided to watch it at my grandma's house with my parents, Melissa and Jeff, and my grandparents. By the end of the game, my contractions were about 2 minutes apart. So with 3 minutes left in the game we went to the hospital. At the hospital, they told me they were only going to admit me if I had progressed in an hour. However, we never found out if I did, because they admitted us because the baby's heart rate kept dropping. So they gave me the epidural and got me hooked up to the monitors. After the epidural I got to relax a little. Melissa and Jeff came to visit Bret and I for a while, and that was a nice distraction. Isabella came a couple of hours later at 3:38 am. The cord was wrapped around her neck twice, which is why her heart rate kept dropping during labor. However, the doctor was able to take care of it, and she is a very healthy baby. She came out screaming and was bright red. Bret was able to get her first few minutes of life on video. This whole thing was such an amazing experience!
We were grateful to have both of our parents and Melissa and Jeff there to support us.
